ECMC awarded $8.5 million from state’s IAAF
Erie County Medical Center will receive $8,484,000 as part
of $250,000,000 awarded to large public hospitals statewide as part of New York
State's Health Department Medicaid Waiver Interim Access Assurance Fund awards.
New York City's Health and Hospitals Corporation (HCC)
received $152,401,533 while SUNY Upstate is slated to receive $15,000,000 as
part of the seven awards made statewide to large public hospitals. Other
awardees include Nassau Health Care Corporation, SUNY Downstate Medical Center
in Brooklyn, NY, Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook (Long Island),
NY and Westchester Medical Center.

Meanwhile, $211,913,057 in awards will be given to 22
designated safety net hospitals through the IAAF program of the state Health
Department. Named safety net hospital
awardees include Wyoming County Community Health System ($1,890,498), Cuba
Memorial Hospital ($3,347,463) and TLC Health System ($6,656,000).
The largest safety net hospital awardee named through the
IAAF program is Brookdale Hospital, at $53,404,065.

As part of the DSRIP Program, the Interim Access Assurance
Fund (IAAF) was developed to assist safety net hospitals in severe financial
distress and major public hospital systems to sustain key health care services
as they develop projects to be funded by DSRIP.
As of August, the DOH had awarded $462 million from the Interim Access
Assurance Fund (IAAF) to 22 safety net hospitals and five major public hospital
systems. The state Health Department has
